"If you go off into a forest and get very quiet, you'll come to understand you're connected with everything"- Alan Watts

Nature & wellbeing

Biophilia is human's innate tendency to seek connections with nature.

We are drawn to it when we need nourishing, restoring, healing. Time in nature fills us with calm, wonder and a sense of connection. In the midst of stressful modern life we need it more than ever, which is why I offer nature connection in my work.

Shinrin Yoku is the Japanese term for forest bathing. A 'forest bath' is the simple yet deeply healing practice of immersing oneself in nature. It is a mindful activity; using the senses to connect fully to the natural environment.

The science behind how and why time in nature is so beneficial to both our physical and mental health is fascinating and well researched.

I am a trained Shinrin Yoku practitioner and Forest Therapy Guide, I hold an International Forest Therapy Guide Diploma from Nature & Therapy UK.

I offer this at the following locations in Salford:

Dukes Drive

Worsley Woods

Clifton Country Park

Kersal Dale

I can also arrange this at a location of your choice, though I will need to familiarise myself with it first.

To book on my next Forest Bathing event for the general public visit my events page.

To organise a Forest Bathing session for yourself or your colleagues/group please get in touch.

You can read a local press article about my Forest Bathing events here.

If having counselling in a therapy room doesn't appeal to you then you might like to have your sessions outside where there is a greater sense of space and we can walk beside each other. Whilst the focus will be on you and what you want to work on in therapy, we will be supported by the natural environment around us.

Forest Therapy uses the power of nature to help us heal our wounds, connect with our authentic selves and build our resilience. In Forest Therapy sessions nature is the therapist and I am the guide; the 3 of us work together. We'll begin with an initial session in the therapy room or on zoom to establish our purpose and first steps and then meet for regular 2 hour sessions in nature - usually fortnightly but this can be discussed.

Locations as listed above in the Forest Bathing section or contact me to discuss alternative options.
