"If you go off into a forest and get very quiet, you'll come to understand you're connected with everything"
Biophilia is human's innate tendency to seek connections with nature. We are drawn to it when we need nourishing, restoring, healing. Time in nature fills us with calm, wonder and a sense of connection. In the midst of modern life madness we need it more than ever, which is why I offer nature connection in my work.
Shinrin Yoku is the Japanese term for forest bathing. A 'forest bath' is the simple yet deeply healing practice of immersing oneself in nature. It is a mindful activity; using the senses to connect fully to the natural environment.
The science behind how and why time in nature is so beneficial to both our physical and mental health is fascinating and well researched.

Walk with me
Walk & talk counselling sessions
I often invite my clients to take their sessions outside, in local parks and green spaces. This can be used as a way to practice mindfulness, to reduce stress and for clients who feel that the traditional counselling room setting is too uncomfortable for them. Working outside isn't suitable for everyone though; do get in touch if you'd like to see if it's right for you. You can read more about my counselling work here.
Would you like to organise a group Shinrin Yoku session? This can be a fantastic way to reconnect to yourself, your colleagues/peers and your environment.
I offer this at the following locations in Salford:
Clifton Country Park
I can also arrange this at a location of your choice, though I will need to familiarise myself with it first.
