Summer solstice journaling

Whilst I wouldn’t describe myself as a Pagan, I do like to use the wheel of the year as part of my nature connection practice; it gives a pleasing rhythm to life and helps me celebrate each season for what it brings and teaches.

Midsummer, or Litha, is a celebration of the start of summer and the peak of the sun's power. It's a time of light, abundance, joy and energy. It’s a great time to go for a mindful walk in nature, noticing the sights, sounds, textures & scents of the season. Then, make a summery drink of your choice (I’m currently obsessed with Bird & Blend cold brew teas, not an ad!) and grab your journal for some seasonal reflections & self care.

Summer Solstice journal prompts

  • Pause for a moment of celebration - what are you proud of? What have been your 'peak moments' recently? How would you like to celebrate this?

  • What/who is bringing light into your life at present? What/who is making you light up inside? Where do you feel this in your body?

  • What could bring you joy this summer season? Think of people, places, experiences.

  • Start to plan how you can make space for this joy in your life this summer.

  • What is full of life in nature right now that you are drawn to? What do you like about it? Does this plant, tree, insect or animal have a message for you?
